P & I DEPARTMENT::  SEED ACTIVITIES & MINIMUM SUPPORT PRICE ACTIVITIES OF APOILFED

SEED ACTIVITIES:

APOILFED implemented Groundnut & Bengal Gram Seed activities during the last 25 years in Kharif and Rabi seasons. From Kharif 2019 season due to changed priorities of Seed activities, the Commissioner of Agriculture opted for Single Agency i.e., M/s APSSDC Ltd., and APOILFED was not allotted seed activity.

MINIMUM SUPPORT PRICE SCHEMES:

APOILFED is the Nodal Agency for implementing MSP for Oilseed crops. During 2019-20 & 2020-21, the following MSP activities were taken up by APOILFED.

1. MSP for GROUNDNUT, Kharif 2019-20: (Rs.5090.00 Per Qtl)

APOILFED implemented Minimum Support Price for groundnut during Kharif 2019 season in the Districts of Anantapuramu, Kurnool and Chittoor during the period December, 2019 to February, 2020. The scheme benefitted 13852 nos. farmers. 21170.248 MT of GN Pod valued at Rs.107.7565 crores was procured.

2. MSP COPRA 2019: (Rs.9521.00 per qtl of Milling Copra)

APOILFED has implemented MSP for Copra by setting up 5 nos.  procurement centers in East Godavari District. The market price was around Rs.8000.00 per quintal initially. But subsequent to MSP activity by APOILFED the market price stabilized between Rs.9200.00 to Rs.9500.00 per qtl. The coconut farmers benefitted indirectly due to timely intervention by APOILFED though no quantity was procured at the 5 centers kept open during six months period from August 2019 to February 2020.

3. MSP for copra 2020: (Rs.9960.00 Per qtl of Milling Copra)

APOILFED implemented MSP for Copra in the East Godavari District by Opening 5 Nos. Procurement Centers. The grounding work was completed and procurement centers were opened from May 2020 and the activity was concluded in October 2020. The Market rates stablished with the publicity given about the MSP activity. The rates were around Rs.8900.00 to Rs. 9000.00 per quintal before the commencement of MSP.  There after the market rates gradually increased over and above MSP Price. The farmers are indirectly benefitted with the intervention through MSP by APOILFED.

1. The Kharif 2020 Groundnut MSP @ Rs.5275.00 per quintal for FAQ quality and @ Rs.4500.00 per quintal for Non FAQ (Grade I) for relaxed quality parameters were carried out. The activity was limited to the following quantities & farmers, as market rates ruled firm / on par with MSP / MIS rates in most areas.

The MSP / MIS activities are very uncertain both in seasons and volume. Recently the Groundnut procurement activity under MSP / MIS was allocated to APMarkfed in response to APOILFED’s request considering the man power shortage and intensity of the activity to be implemented at Rythu Bharosa Kendra’s.
